    C1 Low HP Fuelie Questions

My 59 250 HP Fuelie currently has an incorrect exhaust system. I think it has the "Off-Road" mufflers on it. Sounds awesome but not NCRS. I want to get an aluminized system for it and I have the following questions:

    1) Should it have a crossover pipe or not? (It does not now but from what I read it seems it is supposed to).

    2) It also says (according to the AIM of Noland Adams'Restoration Guide) that the system was actually the same as a passenger car except the pipes were switched. What does this mean?

    3) Also on the exhaust system, should the mufflers be stamped "LH" & "RH" or not? The way the book states in could be interpreted that the Corvette is without stamped markings and the passenger cars have them.

    4) I am looking for a correct jack, in good shape. What is the best reproduction OR does anyone have an original one for sale? It needs to be REAL nice in either case.

    5) Lastly, my FI script is more crooked on one side of the car than the other. Does anyone know how I can get my hands on a copy of the assembly instructions P/N 3775602 as listed in Noland Adams' book on page 292? I would like to see how accurately these were intalled.

    Thank you! - John # 21388

    John -

The crossover pipe was only used on F.I. cars with solid lifters. Correct mufflers for a '59 are oval; the round "off-road" mufflers weren't available as an option until 1962.

Just as an aside, I know of a very original '61 car that is most remarkable for how crooked the FI script is. Regardless of what the AIM might say, there are a number of cars that demonstrate that it was not a perfect alignment from one side of the car to the other.

John: So they were stamped LH & RH? Do you know what the "switching" they mention is all about? Thanks for the feedback. - John #21388

Thanks. I figure there had to be a template of some sort so the FI scripts could be put on in an efficent manner on the production line. I was hoping to see that by asking for the AIM instructions for doing so. I wonder if anyone has them anywhere? - John #21388
