225 too much?
Lorence, and Gene
I just now went to a 215/70R15, with original 7" rims. Work perfect. I was originally concerned about the 225 size, which may (or may not) work on other sharks. 225 may be the problem, as well as what Gene said, 7" rims. Tom #24014- Top

Re: 225 too much?

I use Goodyear Eagle ST 245-60-R15s on my 69 for the street and they fit perfectly, with no rubbing or contact of any kind. Also, this size has a diameter almost identical to the original F70-15s, so speedometer calibration is not affected by the change.
Although my 69 fender wells are identical to your 68's, I am using the 69-up 8" wheels, so that may represent an important difference in the comparison if you're using the 68 7" wheels.
When using a 70-series radial, I recommend the 215-70-R15 size. This tire has a diameter very similar to the original F-70(26.89" vs 26.97" for the F-70)and a very similar tread width(6.6" vs 6.5" for the F-70). Section width is slightly less than the F-70(8.7" vs. 8.95" for the F-70).
The 225-70-R15 tire size has a section width almost identical to the original(8.98" vs. 8.95"for the F-70). However, the tread width is .2" greater(6.7" vs 6.5") and, most importantly, the diameter is almost .5" greater(27.44" vs. 26.97").In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
