fuel gauge and heater switch j grantham i have finished replacing the wiring in my as part of a complete restoration and i have two questions first the fuel gauge needle increases when i apply the brakes when the turn signals are on it causes the needle to move up and down in sync with the lights when i turn on the headlights the needle also moves up is the voltage dropping on the battery system and what can i do to resolve it before i started this project the old wiring and battery did the same thing the common peices are the gauge itself and the voltage regulator i did not change them second the heater blower only runs on high speed how can i tell if it's the switch or the motor i think the motor is o k since it runs fine on high speed j grantham

Re: 62 Fuel Gauge and Heater Switch
re fuel gauge and heater switch john the ground for your fuel gauge sending unit is spliced into a common ground for your taillights which frequently causes precisely the symptom you describe best cure is to run a dedicated ground wire from your sending unit to the chassis the symptom will disappear and the sending unit and fuel gauge will function properly perhaps someone else can help with the blower motor issue i'm not familiar with the ' circuitry in that area john ' ncrs- Top
