I am considering buying a 65 convertible project car that has been mounted on a solid 66 frame It is going to need to be totally restored. My question is what is the difference between a 65 and 66 frame .I'm going to spend a considerable amount$$$ to restore this and I don't want to get started on the wrong foot at the beginning. I am going to order the NCRS MANUALS before I start. I just need a little info before I buy this project car.

Re: C2 FRAME DIFFERENCES
Thomas,
I figured Joe's answer was the case. I think a convertible frame should also have 6 body mount locations with 3 of those on the main frame rails. Coupes only have 2 on these rails.
Make sure your replacement frame has 3 for your vert. If not, I think they are availible from Long Island Corvette. You'll need some advice on location and a welder to attach them.
good luck,

Shifter mounts to frame after early '66's
(as opposed to the tail housing of the trans); and you'll see evidence of the shifter's bracket bolt holes in the X-member, if the bracket is missing. No '65's had this bracket. Also, '65 brake line (front-to-rear) mounting was on top of frame side rail, and holes moved to inside on '66's.- Top
