does any one know any thing about a TCS, transmission controlled spark on a 70 vette ? Thanks in advance. Dean

Re: 70 vette
I disconnected my TCS on my 70 not very long after I took delivery back on August 18,1970. It is still disconnected. The advantage for me of having it disabled is better gas mileage in city type driving. Basically, the TCS prevented vacuum to the distributor vacuum advance on the turbo 400 70's in low and second. When the transmission shifted to third you would have vacuum to the distrubutor vacuum advance. With the TCS disconnected I connected a vacuum line from the distributor vacuum advance to full time vacuum, not ported vacuum on the carb.- Top

Re: 70 vette
Hello, will try to help a bit more. TCS controls vac advance sensing two variables, engine temperature and gear position. There is a trans switch in 3rd/4th lever, a temperature switch in RH (SB) cylinder head (different from ordinary LH switch), a solenoid at RH of carburator and a relay. Solenoid connect/disconnect vac advance depending on temperature and gear.
Harness derivation with connector (green wire) goes to RH temp switch, black wire goes to trans switch (if I'm correct), flat connector goes to solenoid in forward position (70 vette).
Temp switch senses very low and very high temperatures (start up and very warm condition).

Re: 70 vette
Dean,
Try Doc Rebuild's website to see if you can get the image of the TCS for your model year and engine option. You can find it under A-Z: H: Hoses, Spark Control.
Doc's catalog is one of the best around!
