I have already had my car judged and lost all points on paint, very obivous 85 points deduct. My question is how can I get some of those points back? The car has been sanded and buffed, even door jambs and hood ledges. Can I respray the jambs and ledges with a flatened clear or can I sand them with 2000 paper and slightly buff or what is a good answer? Anyone have any solutions that have worked, please offer any suggestions. Thanks

If you do the work you stated on a different day with a different set of judges you never know what will happen. The hobby needs cars to judge to exist and at paint sessions they talk about how the paint looks different than original rather that what product it is. If you can get 10% of the points on originalty then you can get condition points. No one has a yes or no answer to this and few want to talk about it. I can remember when the test was to rub color but painters found a way to make it happen and I have not seen any rubbing on the field lately. LyleLyle

Bill, if Dick Whittington doesn't want to talk about it today ( ), do a search on Dick's posts...I seem to remember that he revealed some trade secrets that will help your dilimma. It's too bad you've already spent $10K (?) on that paint job...otherwise, we would argue like Daniel Webster trying to save his soul not to sleep with that "***** of Babylon", clear coat. Naah...I'm only kidding you.Comment

I had a 60 that got called on BC/CC and gained 50 points back by spraying my door jams, under hood, and trunk area with Krylon clear dulling spray in a rattle can. I think this is the easiest solution. As stated it depends on the JUDGE. Good luckComment

Bill, I believe the address below is specifically the thread I had in mind. Whew...I had no idea what I was saying in telling you to search Dick's posts. Dick has put out a LOT of really good stuff. I had to play with the search terms to narrow it down to manageable proportions. Thank you, Dick Whittington!
