    C2 Flex plate replacement

The flex plate on my 65 coupe 327, powerglide is chewed up. Is it possible or reasonable to unbolt the powerglide and slide it back enough to replace the flex plate without removing the transmission or engine/transmission. Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

i THINK it can be done but only guessing. suspect it'll be tight removing the flex-plate to crank bolts but i'd sure try it before removing the powerglide. good luck, mike

      Re: C2 Flex plate replacement

I replaced the flex plate in my 70 by disconnecting the turbo 400 and moving it back by placing a piece of 2X10 wood under the trans pan using a floor jack. Supported the engine the same way with another floor jack. Hint--the higher you can support your car, the more room you will have to remove and torque the bolts that hold the flex plate to the crankshaft.
