There will be an absolute bank auction of items in the Larry Caudle estate this coming Saturday in Greensboro, NC. There are several Corvettes and many Corvette parts. You can view the items for sale at the "Larry Caudle Estate Auction I" website. I'm sorry, but I don't know if Larry was an NCRS member or any particulars of his passing.
Is anyone going who would be willing (for hire) to buy and ship a particular lot for me? I can't attend in person.
While far from North Carolina here in Michigan, I can only view the auction items and think ahead 40 years to what will happen when my wife follows through on her threat to auction off all my Corvette parts upon my death. While talking again with our finincial advisor last week, she confirmed that even if I died tomorrow she'd keep nothing but my 71 coupe.
Time to start cataloguing.....

Patrick - Don't feel like the Lone Ranger in this respect. Your wife and family is just a little more up front about it than most. Think about the poor fellows who cherished Model A and T cars and parts. They are all gone and no shrines with those parts are any where. Sad cruel fact!
Actually, I think a nice old early 30's Chevrolet would be neat.
Another guy in town has spent upwards of $80k restoring his uncle's old Model A and will be trying for "Best of Show" at some national Ford event. And it will be worth what, $40k when he's done? No thanks.
Hopefully if I catalog all my parts, my wife and/or son will be able to see which parts were purchased to keep the 71 alive into the future.

You should probably go ahead and put price tags on all the parts and include what years they fit. Things will go much smoother at the estate sale that way. The Mrs. won't give away anything due to ignorance.
I've been criticized for selling my extra FI parts on eBay. Some injection folks have said I'm getting rid of stuff I'll need later. Maybe so.
But maybe not. I think there are plenty of FI parts still out there. We'll be awash with Rochester fuel injection parts when just a few key hoarders pass on. Consider this. I know one person with over 90 FI units. Several pack rats in the south have more than 20 units each. My eBay auctions for FI parts usually draw 3 or 4 bidders each time, and most of them are dealers. So, who is going to step up and buy all these parts when they hit the market? Pro-Team? I doubt it.
The painful truth is that our precious cars will not be valued enough by the next few generations to consume the spare parts already out there.
While I had not seen Larry in several years I remember him as a neat guy who liked his plastic toys as evidenced by the auction list. I believe that at one time in the late '60's or early '70's he owned an original red '69 L/88.
coupe.
Also, I believe that at one time he was a NCRS member.
Patrick - at least if there is a price and date on the item, it would establish a value for that year, and could be extrapolated, of course, the wife would not know the value of the acceleration curve as the "NOS" parts age.
That said, my wife would sell the lot of my parts for pennies on the dollar I am sure.....looks like junk to her....
