Re: heater core replacement
I just finished replacing the heater core on my '64. I also have no a/c. It was not particularly difficult -- you will want a helper around when you pull the heater box out and when you reinstall it. Cleaning the box and the metal air deflectors inside take most of the time - I wound up drilling out all of the rivits holding the metal pieces inside, removing the metal pieces, cleaning them and coating them with naval jelly before painting. It should take a day or so to remove the heater box and another to put it in. You have several days of cleaning (and fixing cracks in the heater box, particularly around the speed nuts that hold the assembly in place) and painting in between.
Email me if you have any more specific questions. Gook luck.
