I have broken the threaded end off the 1-2 shift fork. Can this be replaced while the trans is still in the car? How much is involved in replacing the fork? Are the 2 shift forks identical?

Re: 1962 Shift forks
"Resolution"----
Generally speaking, the shift forks can be replaced by simply removing the transmission side cover. I am not familiar with removing the side cover while the trans remains installed in a '62 model, but, if it is anything like later models, side-cover removal should not be too difficult.
As far as the shifter forks go, the 1-2 and 3-4 forks are identical on T-10 transmissions such as was originally installed on your '62. The GM part number for these forks is currently 360088.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
