    71 LS7...................................

Is this car of historical significance, or just a clapped-out 71? Opinions?

    Gimme a break

    A green/green repainted '71 coupe with an over-the-counter replacement engine for $70,000?

And GM cancelled that engine option because it was declared "too powerful for public roads"? Selling for a friend. I was told... Happy Bidding! Wow! Rare! Bid With Confidence!

Re: you cant blame the guy for trying

I looked at this car about two years ago, before the owner died and it was repainted. It would have been a bowtie candidate with the original engine parts re-installed. Too bad they repainted. It was an extremely nice original. It still has the original block. It RUNS!! I thought he was way too high then and it's worse now. He says he has an offer of $50. Still too high, but what do I know.

          A real '71 LS6 is for sale for $62,000

The Corvette Lady in Costa Mesa, Ca has a real '71 LS6 in Brands Hatch green with a factory green interior that is optioned out with 4:11 ratio and a Corvette Order Copy from the gas tank, if anyone is interested?

I looked at the car last year.

For the more adventurous (ebay), this one is more to my liking than green/green. But, since the seller started bidding at $40K (now at $42.5K with one day left), I would be surprised if this one could be bought for $62K. To me, ebay purchases seem like insanity...too much dinero for sight unseen!

              Duntov's last triumph!

              Chuck:

This car and a Warbonnet Yellow coupe were both at Mecum's auction at the 2001 Bloomington meet. I bid on both cars and thought that they both sold. The Warbonnet Yellow coupe had only 7,000 miles on it. I was bidding against Terry Michaelis of ProTeam then.

Both of these cars have surfaced again, the other car was listed in Hemmings recently for $80,000. Neither car were anywhere near a condition I would consider for the mileage claimed to be.

I personally believe this is the next and last true performance big block rat to appreciate into the stratosphere! Most were equipped with all the right goodies, M22 rockcrusher, HD dual disc clutches, Transistor Ignition, ZL1 aluminum heads and they RUN on todays lousy octane fuels!

CARAMBA! You must be a prophet! That silver LS6 went to $80,100, and STILL DIDN'T MEET THE RESERVE! I wonder what the owner wanted...100Gs!

-------Is it as obvious to everyone else as to me that RM was probably boosting the bids towards the end so as to not stigmatize the car? Bids that jump by $10,000 at a crack just dont happen!........Bill S

Bill, I didn't follow the car constantly, but the bid history shows that the last five hours of bidding by two individuals was definitely surreal, with several bids of $5K and one of $10K. One such bid might be an attempt to "shock and awe" the other bidder, but I can't see it realistically happening more than once...it would be insane. During that time, the bid went from mid forties to over $80K!
