On the L76 and L84 engines, does the crank dampner bolt on, or press fit?

I believe that all the 3782870 blocks from 62 - 65 had press on balancers. Regardless of the horsepower. My 64 L75 dated block had no bolt and when rebuildng it was suggested I add a bolt. The machine shop told me none of the old 327 blocks had bolts.

A 1964 L-75 wouldn't originally have been fitted with a crank snout bolt. However, all 1962 and later SHP 327s did have the bolt. The machine shop might not have seen too many of these since the 62-65 SHP small block applications were pretty much limited to Corvettes.

all dampers are press on even the ones with the bolt.if the press fit is not tight enought it will shear off the key and spin.
