C1 washer bottle yellowing

Any way to brighten up a plastic washer bottle? Mine has a nice white 2" wide stripe across it where I took off a very old, brittle piece of masking tape. The rest is a off white yellow.

I thought I would try some paint polishing compound?

I don't think that you'll be successful. The masking tape protected the portion of the bottle it covered from discoloration. The rest of the bottle yellowed. I think that you'll find that the yellow is "through-and-through" the plastic. There's usually no way to abrade it off or reverse the yellowing through the application of any chemical treatment.

chris: i tend to agre with joe in that the masking tape acted like a "sunscreen" , preventing the ultraviolet lite from photo-damaging the plastic.Sunscreen the tan areas and leave the masking taped area naked, put puppy in tanning bed and it'll probably tan the naked plastic. how long to tan? you're on your own with that one. good luck, mike
