    1967 Carb Question

    What is the original C.F.M. rating for the 3811 carb? I am going to Spring Carlsile to look for an original, but I need a carb in a bad way, so I might buy a correct sized replacement as a last resort.

    Thanks,
    Tom McCabe

      Is there a current part availible?

      That might have the fuel lile setup and choke that will work in say a 600 if the 585 isn't availible.

      P.S. thanks for the answer Clem.

        Tom------

        There are several options. Here are a few:

        1) Check with Chicago Corvette. They used to have a huge inventory of Holley reproduction carburetors. I think that the 3811 used to be reproduced under Holley # O-3811, but it is NOT anymore. They may still have some inventory. Expect to pay a huge price;

        2) Check with any of the hi-performance parts supply houses (Summit, PAW, Jegs, etc.) to see if they can supply you with a Holley O-3810. This is the 1967 small block reproduction carburetor. It's also 585 CFM and it's externally configured like the 3811. The last I cehcked, this carb was still available. There are some internal differences which I don't really think will cause you a problem. If they were to, you could change those components to the 3811 spec. Expect to pay $700+ for this carb;

        3) Use a current production Holley #0-80457S. This is a 600 CFM carburetor of model 4160 (just like the 3811) and it's configured similarly to the the 3811. You may have to add a choke kit to it for your application, but, usually, these are available from Holley. This carb sells for about $250.

          the 3810 has a remote choke,choke stove on the manifold and a rod to open and close the choke. all the newer carbs,like 0-80457S, have a electric choke or hot air choke and there is no way to make the changeover.
