I need a new battery for my 1980. Other than the original, what battery do I get that will score points in judging. Does AC Delco still make an exceptable battery?

Nobody makes a repro battery for anything newer than a '72 (I think) so the best thing to do is get an AC Delco that most closely matches the original in size and configuration.
Yes, they make good batteries. Mine is 7 years old and still performs like new. -

Don You may want to E-mail the team leader as he has made a change in the points deducted because a battery of the correct cranking amps was not made by Delco. You can't go wrong asking the team leader and he can also tell you how many points you will lose. We have seen a few who have installed a gell cell inside their original and if done correct loses no points. All cutting was on the bottom and is unseen when installed.Mike the side post 72 battery is correct for 73-75 also but uses flat black caps after Feb 73 production. LyleLyle
