I have a 1970 with a 350 engine, automatic transmission. Took it out on the road for the first time today. At about 55mph it was running at 2300-2400 RPM. At 50mph it was about 2000 RPMs. Is this right? It seems to be high to me but Im used to modern cars with overdive transmissions. Thanks for the help.
Sound about fight, I remember when I had my '58 in College, I used to drive to school (with a 4.56 rear) 275 miles with the tach on 3750. (About 70 mph)
Don - I am not sure what rear end gearing you have, and which 350. But it sounds about right, with a 3.55 rear you will sea about 2500 rpm at 57mph or so....Craig
