I am beginning to experience antifreeze coolant foaming out of the resevoir tank once the motor is hot. I have drained some coolant and it is not milky so I am not concerned about the head gasket or oil mixture. Any thoughts on what is causing this? Faulty cap, or faulty water pump or bad coolant? Radiotor should be fine with an aluminum core. Car runs cool.

Re: coolant foaming
If you are experiencing foaming, more than likely the anti-foam agents in your anti-freeze have broken down. This is not as common today as it once was. The only cure for this that I know of is to flush the cooling system and replentish with a 50-50 mixture of quality antifreeze. Be sure to use the proper type of antifreeze for your Vette, ie long life in later cars that came equipped with it and regular in others. Also, make sure that it states that it meets all manufacturers requirements. Some of the cheaper house brands do not do this.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: coolant foaming
Foaming or overflow? Two different things. Overflow is usually a result of an engine overheating and/or a faulty radiator cap. Foaming is frothy bubling coolant usually caused by breakdown of the antifoaming additives in antifreezeDick Whittington- Top
