    Tri-Power Linkage adjustment

New territory for me. I bought a Tri-power off E-Bay last year and just had carbs rebuilt. This past weekend I installed them and tried to adjust them following both the ASM and Service manual. I set the timing, and checked the Dwell all was OK. Before I connected the two secondaries I adjusted the primary and set the air/fuel mixture. The idle was set at 750 RPM. I then connected the linkage to the two secondary carbs and the idle went to 1,400 RPM and I was unable to adjust it back down.

The ASM and Service manuals say to adjust the rear linkage to just cover 1/2 the hole and the front linkage to just enter the hole. Am I missing something?

I then set the rear linkage to just enter the hole (idle stays at 750 RPM but I don't think the secondaries are kicking in.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming that the stops are set correctly on the front and rear carbs, adjust the center carb to obtain proper mixture and idle speed, then adjust the front and rear linkage to just enter the hole.
