    C1 Engine swap preperation

    Hi all,

Wednesday this week I've got my engine delivered in Ridderkerk harbour so I rented a small van and picked it up and brought it to the revision company (see thread below or in the archives).

The engine was contained a lot of goodies (some already in possesion, e.g. voltage regulator, distributor, generator, incorrect carburator, exchaust, manifolds, etc.). The (automatic transmittion stamped) engine didn't include all the bits from the bellhouse onwards but I hope I'll be able to swap all these parts from my old '83 Camaro engine (manual transmittion). In a future thread I'll publish the numbers of the bellhouse and transmittion (B/W T10 from '63) to check what would fit and what won't. I'm just wondering if the currently fitted bellhouse (containing the clutch stuff) would fit on the #519 casted engine.

If the bellhouse works out to be authentic I won't have a problem at all but if it isn't (e.g. its from the same Camaro) I might have to do some detective work on Carlisle or at some second hand part vendors or junkyards during our vacation especially if this bellhouse wouldn't fit onto the #519 engine.

    Any advise is helpfull!

    greetings,
    Rob.

PS next Sunday I've planned to update the C1 '59 Restoration Site big time (lots of new photo's on the interior (doors, painting, chrome and stainless steel), trunk (emblems, lining, rubber mat), new engine, transmittion and some misc. bit under the hood since I have been so busy on building parts for the C1registry.com site that the restoration site got a bit neglected.

Rob, if i understand correctly, the bellhousing is from a Camaro? If so, it will fit the engine fine, but it lacks the boss (flat place on the left side with two bolt holes)necessary to mount the clutch cross shaft bracket.
