We are having some trouble with the radio in our 67. The FM side works fine, when switching over to AM, the cylinder does not rotate completely. Is this an easy fix or should it be left to a repair shop. Thanks for the help.
Easy fix for your problem. After removing the radio take the chrome bezel off and shorten the string. You will find the string when you get the bezel off.
Chuck, it is easy to fix. It can be one of two problems that I can think of. The dial may have cracked with age and needs to be replaced or the string that acts as the rotation media has stretched and need to be shortened. The hard part is usually removing the radio. If its the string, just disconnect it and twist it to shorten it, then replace it. As an example twist it like when you were a kid and put a pencil through a rubber band to make a propeller, best example I can give. The shorter string will cause a fuller rotation.
