C1 59 Trunk Lid Hinges

Does the springs on the trunk lid hinges lift the lid all the way up? If not should the lid stay up if you lift it the balance of the way?
My lid goes up about 80 to 85% of the way with the hinge springs and the balance of the way is free play and it will not stay all the way up.

If you are going to have your car judged it should stay up about 98%. The fix is a radiator clamp or shock rubber under the bottom of the springs.
