Does anyone know of a good source for information on restoring the air distribution box on a C2 (1964 in my case) with factory air? I have a gasket set from CC, but no instructions. As many of the factory gaskets have long since turned to dust and/or been subject to the Bubba factor I cannot just use the old box as a guide. There's enough foam in the gasket set to stuff a sofa. Hard to imagine where all this stuff actually goes.

All that "stuff" is in the AIM (Assy Manual).... and how it goes together. Study the section C60 and D6 and you'll have all the answers.

Re: C2 Air Box Restoration (A/C car)
Bruce,
Doc Rebuild has some of the best seals available for A/C and Heater Box Rebuild purposes...
What is even better is the instructions that come with his kits...Let me put it this way...If you can read, he'll take you through the entire process step by step...
Word of Caution...Call on the regular phone line if you want to ask questions...Call the 1-800 number to order parts ONLY...
Go to Google and do a search on Doc Rebuild to get contact info...
Still want to see your car..!!!
Regards,
Rick- Top

Re: Speaking of *****s
43 pieces? I'm not sure there are even 43 separate parts in the air box assembly if you don't count the fasteners. Seems like if you had 43 dresses you would need at least 43 *****s to fit in them. I'll ignore the obvious "box" pun.
Seriously, where do all the foam pieces/gaskets go? I looked in the AIM a while back, but do not recall seeing 43 different pieces/gaskets.- Top

Re: Speaking of *****s
That's because many of them came as part of the inner and outer box assemblies from Harrison, and thus are not shown in the A.I.M., as it only shows St. Louis-installed parts. The Doc has the right stuff, WITH instructions.- Top

Re: Speaking of *****s
Just ordered a seal set from Dr. Rebuild today. After everyone's comments and a little research on the Dr.'s website, seems like the only way to go. The set from the Dr. includes some additional non-factory seals that should help control leakage from the box .
Apparently, the seal set sold by CC is a generic, one-size fits all set. I guess that's fine for someone who knows what to look for, but pretty confusing for a neophyte like me.- Top
