Yes, I think that they will fit fine. However, the 1985 used 16" wheels and the 1990 used 17" wheels. You will have to use a tire size on the 1990 wheels that has an OD about the same as the 1985 tires. The 1990 tire size of 275/40/17 is a size which is very close to the OD of the 1985's 255/50/16.

Believe that the 17" wheels use a different back spacing than the 16" wheels so will need spacers. I have see spacers for sale at the major vendors to fit the 17" wheels to early C4s.

Thanks Joe. I have decided that, since John Kelsey has no plans to manufacture the 255/50 VR - 16 Gatorback within, probably, the next 10 years (if ever), then I would consider removing my 4 original tires (carcasses?)/wheels intact, and storing them. I will probably go with a 17" or 18" wheel, and BFG g-force T/A KDW2 rubber. I first have to come up with a combo that fits, and has a matching revs/mile (diameter) number.

The reason I asked about the fitment, is that "Tire Rack" lists one group of wheels for 1984-88, and another group for 1989-96. I like the 5 spokes in the latter group. I tend to agree that they "probably" will fit, but when I looked closer, I saw that the offsets were different between the 2 groups.

Thanks for the advice on the 275/40-17.

            ZR1 Style Wheels

Joe, Autumn Fleet Sales reproduces the ZR1 style wheel with correct 84-88 offsets (no spacers required). Others have also mentioned another company that makes similar wheels, but I don't remember the name.

Chuck. Great lead. Wheels are real nice, and the price is nice, too. Thanks much.
