    C1 - Classic Engine Company

I am considering a rebuilt 283/270 from Classic Engine Company in Oshkosk, WI for my '58. Has anyone had experience with them ?

    Dwight,
Tom did a 1959 245 Hp motor for me. His pricing was fair and competitive and the engine ran perfectly. Service was prompt and arrived as promised. I have referred others to him and they have had equally good results. He would be my engine rebuilder for any future work I would have.

BOUGHT A 283 FROM CLASSIC ENGINE COMPANY ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. THE ENGINE WAS FINE, NO PROBLEMS. THEY OFFERED TO STAMP THE BLOCK WHICH I HAD DONE.THAT DIDN'T COME OUT AS GOOD AS THE ENGINE.HOPE THIS IS SOME HELP. GOOD LUCK, DWIGHT

Dwight: if your desire is a well performing , reliable, non-judgable engine , go with classic.f you are going to have the car judged, the broach marks will leave a lot to be desired.mike

I had a 327 300 HP built for me. I have had it in the car for about 2 months and it runs great. He/Tom has great contacts also for Carbs and other engine parts. I am very happy with it so far. Good luck.

Dwight, I bought a matched pair of 461X heads about five years ago from Classic. They were shipped on time and were as represented. They were perfect and at at a price that I thought to be very fair.

Tom built a restoration motor for me for the 59. The car was judged and recieved no deducts for the stampings and/or broach marks on the pad at a regional meet. Maybe 2004 eyes are better.
