    ADDING A POWER ANTENNA TO A 69

I would like to add a power antenna to my 69 so that I can use a car cover. Was a power antenna ever an option in 69? Is there any special antenna models that others have used that are compatible? Is there any tricks I should know before I start?

    Thanks for any information.

No power antenna option available during the '68 thru '72 "early shark" years.

      For what it's worth...

I added a modern "custom fit" radio and power antenna to my Dad's '68 Mustang 390GT-FB, and it was all bolt-on and worked out very well. The modern radios are manufactured with an antenna lead, so the power antenna was also automatic. I did add an anti-rattle bracket to the antenna, but this was easy to conceal.

i picked up a new P.A. at the local spped shop and installed it in the son's 57 chevy pickup. suspect installing one on a shark would be less hassel as there is much moore room on the rear clip of the shark than there was under the dash of the 57 chevy pickup with mikie installed 78 chevy pickup air conditioning evaporator and associated ductwork. suggest you use the stock ground plate and reinforce the lower end of the P.A. to the body. mike

          Mike:
If the only reason you are considering putting in a power ant. is so that you can use a car cover, why not buy a car cover with a sleeve for the antenna? I have one for my '69 and and it is a perfect fit. Just a thought.
