C2 Wheels and Valve Stems

66 JM states that the wheels were gloss black and the valve stems were 2-2 1/8in. long. Can anyone confirm that these are both correct? We have a little difference of opinion.

David,

The wheels were first dipped completely in a semi gloss black at KH and then shipped to St. Louis. The St. Louis plant then painted the face side gloss black. I hope someone else has info on the valve stem length because I don't know the answer to that one.

Dave: i'm at work but if you'll email me a reminder, when i get home i'll measure the valve stem on a 66 wheel and tire(spare) that's never touched the ground. mike

Dave: valve measures 2 1/4" from steel of wheel to tip of valve cap. know original owner and second owner. have had the car since 74. KNOW its the original spare that i was the first to remove from the spare tire tub. mike

Thanks Mike -- we had a spare tire that looked to be original and it also measured about 2 1/4 to the end of the valve from the wheel.
