    Expansion Tank Cap

I have seen two styles of Expansion Tank Caps recently and I want to know which one is correct. I have looked in the NCRS Judgeing Guide and Noland Adams book and I have yet to find an answer.

In 1965, did the expansion tank cap have 2 circles. One around the "AC" and One around the "13#" ?????

    OR

Did it ONLY have one circle around the "AC"??

    I have a 1965, 327/365, NO AC, Coupe.

    Thanks for any clarification.

    Re: Expansion Tank Cap

Lane -- Checked my '65 Tech Manual and was surprised that it doesn't mention this. Digging back into an old RESTORER (Vol 5 # 4 - Spring '79) it calls for cap # 861307, with a circle around the "AC" (left ear) and a circle around the "#13/307" (right ear). Both stampings are near opposite ears, and the lettering is oriented in a horizontal line drawn through the ears (ie. not around the cap circumference). This cap was indicated as correct from 8-'63 to 3-'66; after that the circle around the cap #'s was eliminated, but retained around the "AC".

Again, this is a very early reference, and more information may now be available. I see that Noah Performance has auctioned a few repro caps on eBay. The one I've seen is with the circle around the #13/307 on RH ear.
