    Carpet Quality

I need input from those who have used different suppliers of Corvette replacement carpet sets. My supplier doesn't like any that he has to deal with which leads me to this request. The last ones that I have installed were of marginal quality material and fit was poor. I have a '67 and a '73 to do soon and would like input from those who have discovered 'who' has the best available. Thanks to all who help me with this.

    Paul,
I have only dealt with Auto Custom Carpets (800)352-8216. I have never had a problem with theses guys. You can order directly from them, or I'm willing to bet the large supply wherhouse carry their products anyway. I'm getting ready to order for 67 coupe and they're my only choice. They will also do custom requests if you have them. I worked for the other guys and we had sent many sets down to Australia with the heal and toe sewn on the right side. Good luck!

      Re: Carpet Quality

Our Corvette club just had a tour of Trim Parts in Cincinnati and they have a carpet department now. It looks impressive. I am not sure of there carpet quality but I have bought many of there other parts and they are top-notch. At least you know it IS totally made in-house, not like other parts vendors. They say they make it but all they do is re-package it and add more money.
Also I know Wilcox has very good prices but again I have no idea where the carpet is made or the quality. Jim

I have used Auto Custom Carpet since Jack Holland started ACC in the 70's, however the last two set I purchased were terrible. The fronts fit correctly however they were trimmed poorly. The rears must have been for a Mustang II. They had to be trimmed and the binding replaced by a local trim shop. The carpet for the jack cover also had to be made at the local trim shop. The one sent from ACC was much too small for the backboard. These carpet sets were for a 66 and 67 roadster.

This may have been an isolated case and may never happen again. I used the 66 carpet set but made many runs to the trim shop to have them altered. The 67 set was sent back to ACC.

Maybe they have been slipping on quality control.

          Regards,

          JR

I used AAC on an 81 and they fit perfect. I had one thing I didn't like the edge was not hemed on the seat backs as original. As for the 73 the passenger side never fits right on the coupe or the convertible because the area is shaped different on the automatics than four speeds and they try to make one fit all so they both look like s.... Paul:
I used Romeo Engineering carpet. Although it took almost a year and many, many phone calls, It fit perfectly and looked great. They also did some custom work per my instructions and did it exactly as I wanted. There was very little t******* required. Just another point of view.
