71 LS5 bellhousing

I am in need of the correct bellhousing for my 71 LS5 4sp . can someone give me the correct part number or others that will fit the m21 transmission

The correct bellhousing for your 71 LS-5 is GM #3899621. This bellhousing is still available from GM, but carries a list price of $292.00. Used ones are relatively easy to find since this bellhousing was used on a wide array of Chevrolet products from 1966 to 1981. Expect to pay about $50-75 for a good, used one.

This bellhousing is designed for use with a 14" flywheel having a 168 tooth ring gear and an 11" clutch. That is what your car was originally equipped with. Although someone may have retrofitted a 10.4 inch clutch(a common retrofit), your car was not originally so-equipped.
