    '63 whitewall tires

What is the correct whitwall width for a '63? Any known sources for radials with that whitwall width?

Originals were 6.70x15 bias ply. Contrary to popular opinion, there WERE minor differences in height/width specs based upon supplier source (Eg. US Royal, Firestone, Goodyear). There was an EXCELLENT article in Restorer a few years back (can search the data base using facilities of this web site and order back issue) that gave the original specs by mfgr and tire across a few generations of Corvette.

Article also discussed the pro/con aspects of departing from original geometry. Your '63-64 JG defines the 'acceptable' sizes of modern radial replacement tires that will give you partial credit on the judging field as bona fide service replacement tires. If you elect to install tires that differ from the sizes published, the burden falls on the owner to demonstrate his tires meet the 'approximate' geometry of factory original rubber (hence, Restorer article can be handy when shopping).
