Trying to figure how much I saved the guy by helping him out with his C3 top replacement. Installed a Robbins top which went on pretty well. The bead roll for the top of the windshield was more like a kit, just round foam and a strip of vinyl. I had to replace the header bow tacking strip, all new weatherstrips, and the pads.

$500. for a standard top no date no tack strip no painting,no new weatherstrip. That is labor and material LyleLyle

Dave,
Robbins is very good top in quality, cost is a slight bit higher but worth it. Installation is much easier than most tops on the market. The average time given to do a top is 5.5 hours. Usually it takes longer to do, more like 6-7 hours. Most shops are charging $45.00-$65.00 per hour depending on location. I'm happy all went well for you.

Well, I did go over that...
But I was doing this for the first time. I had to set the front edge twice. Robbins did not give me any info on the dimension from the rear bow to the #3 bow, which turned out to be 15 1/4" from back edge to front edge. I had to remove and replace the header bow tacking strip, which was crumbling. The factory installed that strip before painting the frame, so the bow was quite rusty, though fortunately is was surface scale. I still had to be cleaned and painted. The right rear bow latch would not stay snapped. The pin was over aganst one side of the hole. I finally removed the latch and slotted the mounting holes. From the marks on the latch, its been off-center for a LONG time.Comment

Dave Did you know their were shims to help center the pin and it has some side adjustment also. Slotting the holes was not done at the factory but in some cases it is the only way to fix the problem. LyleLyle

at my resto shop , for a total resto of the top, (painting everything etc) and installation of the new top is $ 1,800.Comment
