    1967 AM/FM radio

When tuning the antenna and my hand is on the antenna the AM band tunes perfect. When I remove my hand from the antenna the AM band is VERY weak, is this a grounding issue? Thanks for the help.

i suspect it is a ground failure- suggest putting external tooth lock washers on both ends of the copper ground strap . also make certain the ground plane plate isn't oxidized where it and the antenna main body make contact. good luck, mike
