    69 -u69 speakers

i made a couple calls on speakers - i believe 10 ohm is what was stock. the stereo stores are unable to supply 10 ohm , will 8 ohm work well or can you direct me to a supply house that can give me stock 10 ohm speakers for the am fm mono that will fit the kick panel?

Yeah, 8 ohm speakers should work fine. No impact to the stereo. If the ohm rating was a big mismatch from what the stereo called for, you could build up more heat in the amplifier section of the stereo and have a little less volume, but from 10 ohms to 8 ohms is trivial.

By the way, due yourself a favor and get the smallest 6x9 speakers you can find. By that I mean overall depth and size of magnet. I have run into trouble with speakers that are supposed to be "easy fit" and were't. The spaces for speakers in a C3, both rear and in the dash, are very small! Also, you won't give up much in sound quality, as the rear speakers areas are small and not sealed, so bass will never be good unless you rig something up to produce a sealed enclosure, whick I doubt you are interested in as an NCRS member.

Yes, 8 ohm speakers do work ok. 4 ohm will not, though; I tried that once-upon-a-time and the sound was horrible. I didn't leave them on long enough to do any damage to the radio; just a few seconds of that sound was enough.

The 68-69 speakers are unique. They are a 4 X 10 speaker that fits behind the kick panels. Finding alternate speakers of this size is very difficult. Plus, if you do find some, they have to use a small magnet or they won't fit in the recess in the pillar post. Finding such speakers that have impedence, dimensions and magnet size attributes is nearly impossible except for reproductions of the originals.

As an alternative you may get a couple of originals speakers and made them rebuild with original designed impedance. I did it in my country and it worked! And at very low cost.
