1953 Corvette Wheel Part number and date codes...Hi, I am restoring a 1953 Corvette (serial number 103). I would like to know if the wheels were date coded and whether they was a part number stamped into the wheel? Thanks. Jay

I'll jump in w/little knowledge and guess...
...they are probably date coded with a "sloppy" hand stamped month and year. I believe there will be no part number. Probably a size designation and a vendor logo. I think '53 would be 15 x 5 riveted construction. Enough guessing for now.- Top

Re: 1953 Corvette Wheels (part number and dates)
Just looking at an original 53 rim this weekend. I couldn't see any date or other ID marks through the paint on this wheel, the wheel was in great shape. It is actually a passenger car type wheel 15x5 as Dennis said. The spring clips used to hold the small hubcaps on passenger cars located between the lug holes are not riveted on but the holes for them are present. 54 on the wheels did not have these holes and sometime in 54 the nubs were added to the rim to help hold the hubcaps on.- Top
