    67 horn relay

    Dear Members,

    My current horn relay is in poor shape and I might send it to J. Pirkle. I grabbed one off a 66' Corvair today in great shape with exceptional cad. plating. I guess this is because it's up front and the engine isn't. Can I use the #1115811 from the Corvair? It's stamped 12V next to the 811. Does this put out enough requirements for the 67 Corvette coupe? My Manual calls for the #837, but that doesn't bother me now, I just want to get the beast running!

    Justin - I see nobody jumped on this one. My bottomline is I wouldn't install the 1115811 horn relay in place of the 1115837 horn relay. Basically, it's not worth doing it because you could risk frying the wiring harness.

    Here's what I could find. The 1115811 horn relay was replaced (01-65) with the 1116920. Since I don't have a 1115811 horn relay to look at, I'm assuming (you know assume) that the configuration of the terminals on the bottom of the 1116920 is the same as the 1115811. The 1116920 has 3 "slide on" connector terminals while the 1115837 horn relay has two "slide on" connector terminals and plus two screw connector terminals for the battery (12V) "red" wires, i.e., input and output, while the 1116920 has no designated connection for the 12V wires.

    If you need to get the car running, can't you just disconnect the two wires from the two bottom "slide on" connector terminals while leaving the 12V wires connected to the two screw connector terminals?
