Re: Who's a good source for front coil springs....

    Chris-----

All 1965 Corvettes without F-40 used spring GM #3851100. Believe it or not, this is one of the few Corvette springs still available from GM for ANY C1, C2, or C3. The only other spring still available from GM is the 64-72 F-40/F-41 front coil spring GM #3832518. ALL other springs, coil and leaf, for the series Corvettes mentioned are discontinued.

I don't know if the finish of these springs is the same as originally supplied. However, I would expect them to produce the correct ride height.

GM #3851100 springs come powder coated black

I used this same information from Joe to buy a set of the GM #3851100 springs for my car and they are exactly like my originals EXCEPT they came black powder coated. My original springs were bare steel. I have not yet figured out a good way to get the powder coating off of them.

        Re: A followup question

Shane, According to the NCRS judging standards, the most disassembly a judge will ask you to do is to take the air cleaner off, therefore it seems that any part you want to put INSIDE your engine is OK. As long as you buy quality parts your engine won't be able to tell where you bought the part and neither will a judge, but your wallet will! Heck, if you want to grind the mains of a 350 crank to fit in your block and have a "stroker" 327, then it appears to be OK as long as the idle characteristics are the same. I know of a guy with a Top Flight and Bloomington Gold fuelie that runs a hydraulic cam. He didn't get any points deductions for that but he did lose points over a minute part on the steering shaft that was painted vs. natural finish! Huh?
