Does anyone know of an early version of the 1958 assembly manual. Todays editions obviously are later editions with the later style rear bumper brackets, more details on the RPO 684, and a few other minor differences between the early /late production cars. If so, where can I get one. Thanks-JB

Re: 1958 Assembly Manual
Justin, I find it interesting that the '58 AIM sold today shows the 59-60 bumper bracket unless the '58 drawing was not available. I have '58 #9128 (next to the last day of production) and it has the large bracket that bolts to the top of the frame. The drawing shows revised/redrawn on 7/29/58. Since my car would have been built on 8/19/58, I believe that the actual change didn't take place until the '59 model year. I usually look at the revisions to determine part number changes. Sometimes that helps out. If you have a late car I may be able to help you out with some of the items. Ted- Top

Re: 1958 Assembly Manual
For the most part, what we have today in the AIM's sold, is the AIM as it appeared at the end of the model year. When production changes were made on any given AIM sheet, the new change sheet was added and the old one was thrown away. I would think it might be difficult to come up with an early or mid production 1958 AIM. But, who knows, maybe some St Louis employee still has one in their lunchbox.- Top
