I just got a set of springs from Scoggin Dickey Chevrolet for my 66 427/425. These are the purple color code dual springs with top hat retainers. I noticed that the outer springs are stright wound, and the inners are progressive wound. I suspect it doesn't matter, but was planning to install the close coils on the inner springs towards the head. Is there really any reason to install one way or the other? I would think as long as they don't coil bind, it wouldn't matter, I am using a blueprint grind Federal Mogul CS165R camshaft ground with the mid/late sixties solid lifter street grind....Craig
BTW - I paid $176.95 for the set at Scoggin Dickey, a week ago, but I noticed the price went up to $219.95 when I looked today, I wonder if the end is near on these springs....Craig
