I would appreciate suggestions on how to repair a '58 wiper motor baseplate. This aluminum plate is bolted to the firewall below the wiper motor on '56 -'62 models. It has a shaft through the middle to transfer motion of the wiper motor to the cable/pulley system below the dash.
I've got excessive wear in the bushing around this center shaft. Each end of the shaft is "staked" in place, so I am hesitant to take it apart without knowing where to buy a replacement bushing or who to hire for machining services that might be needed.
Can anyone who has done this before give me advice? If you help me out on this one, I promise to never mention my heat transfer theories again.
