    69 trans lube

    went to install speedo gear and lost it in the m21 cavity , any way after retreiving , i installed with the cable, is this going to stay on or is there a clip i am not aware of ? then i filled the m21 case with castrol synthetic 75w90gear oil API GL5, ok product for this application?

    The spec is Mil-L-2105D and 80W-90 GL-5 is the commercial equivalent. Some report leaks using synthetic, so I would recommend a mineral oil based product or the GM axle oil.

      Synthetic is a very superior lube, but unfortunately it will invent places to leak. It is next to impossible to seal an older engine or transmission so it will not leak with synthetic.
