The auto mags were amazingly inaccurate on their pronouncements for the C6 as little as a month or two before it was announced early this year at the Detroit show. I quit subscribing to Autoweek over ten years ago when they showed a picture of an old Ford flathead and called it a "V-6". What clueless idiots! I can excuse the 20-something writers for not knowing that the center two exhaust ports on the old Ford flathead were siamzed, but I think the late Leon Mandel was still Editor at the time, and HE should have known better.
I have maintained that if something similar to the "Blue Devil" is ever produced it will be badged as a Cadillac, NOT a Chevrolet Corvette. Think about this: Cadillac is showing good progress restoring its name as a world class luxury marque. Mercedes has a new "supercar" and BMW will follow suit. If GM decides to build a "supercar", do you think they want to sell it through Chevrolet dealers? Do you think they want their supercar customers to take their cars to Chevrolet dealers for service? Marketing 101 says DEFINATELY NOT! Personally, I would prefer having my new C6 serviced at a Cadillac dealer, and so would many other Corvette owners.

Whoa Momma, Duke...Conjures a vision of 80 year-old geezers in golfing togs down at the Country Club having peeing contests about the performance of their new Caddie versus Mercedes super cars. Maybe the General should also be looking into Cadillac badging those little scooters used to run down shoppers that are not fleet afoot.Comment

Cadillac is really changing their fortunes. Ten years ago it was clear that all their customers would be dead shortly into the new century if they didn't come up with a product line that appealed to younger buyers. Even I am impressed with the CTS-V.
You should come to California and see all the Escalades and who is driving them. I guess that model might make it to Texas in a couple of years.

Although you may not agree with the new "edgy" styling theme of the various Cadillac products, the demographics of their customer base have changed radically in the last three years (which was their primary motivation all along), and the median age of Cadillac buyers has dropped from the mid-60's to the mid-50's; that degree of demographic change is almost unheard of in the industry.
On the other hand, the age of Buick owners continues to climb; most of their owner body demographics indicate that current Buick owners should send their next color and trim order to the Batesville Casket CompanyComment

Why, son, I'll have you know that Texas Tech University in Lubbock was giving their football players Escalades two years ago! You would figure them young fellers would keep getting pulled over as car thiefs...only way a young guy like that could afford one or get caught driving one.Comment

Cadillac is just getting back to its roots with their new offerings. In the 1930s they had a strong lineup of high performance cars with the V16s, V12s and the sexy sport models like this one.

Dickie, don't underestimate those West Texas cotton farmers! There has to be money up there; farming is an expensive enterprise. I never knew a farmer that couldn't afford genuine Cadillacs, but they probably wouldn't have much interest in Corvettes, "art-i-ficial" or otherwise.
Actually, it was Cliff Kingsbury (late of New England Patroits) that was driving the Escalade around campus, and I'm sure it wasn't a gift from the university...well, uh, at least not, er, directly. He probably paid for it using proceeds from his "after-school" job...I seriously doubt his daddy was paying for it. I thought that Cadillac would have introduced a new color just for him (Red Raider Metallic), but that "hawg" was black!Comment
