Re: You agree with the Man of Few Words?
Mornin' Wayne,
I think there were a few '65's made with TI regulators. My friend here in Albuquerque had a very original 65 (bought in 74?) equipped with 327/350, a/c, TI ignition, p/s,p/b, p/w. Don't know the serial number, and can't produce the car. But it had a dated TI regulator and the appearance of the car as a whole lead us to believe it was factory.
Somebody wake up Loren Lundburg, Loran has a 65' with TI regulator. Don't know the history behind the car, but he does. Loran, you out there? Bill- Top

Re: You agree with the Man of Few Words?
1116368 transistor regulator was used in production only in the 1965 model year. No transistor regulators in 1964. 1116368 was used with 1100697 & 1117765 alternators in Chevolet; also saw service in GMC trucks, Pontiac Tempest,Buicks, etc. It was also used as a service unit until August 26, 1966 when it was susperseded by 1116378 for all uses. Delco records indicate 22,853 built for production and 13,888 for service.- Top

Re: Trans Volt Reg - Many Thanks!
Sorry John, I have worked on thousands of mid-years and have never seen one with a transistor regulator. Obviously they are very rare. I know of the references to them but there are references to many things in books and manuals that are not so. Observation is a usefull thing, but untill you have examined every case it is hard to say a specific thing did or did not occure. I will agree from the evidence presented that they may have been used and stand corrected.- Top

Re: 59 windshield removal
You don't say if you took the windshield out of the frame and then noticed the crack or noticed it before you disassembled the frame. I did mine not too long ago, it was not an easy job, but I reused the original shield without breaking it. As far as the tabs, they are small extentions on the lower part of the right and left windshield posts. The u-shaped lower channel has two holes on each end which get screwed to these tabs. Some say they are not necessary, mine where broken off. I think Corvette Central has a service that machines the posts and installs new tabs. There were a few articles in the Corvette Restorer magazines, if you need copies let me know.- Top
