Re: 64 coupe carpet
There is an extra piece that covers the rear blower area in the rear of '65 and '64 coupes. It sounds like you have a '63 set without the extra piece. It runs from the trim below the halo panel to the back of the car and attaches onto the metal bracket at the blower motor with trim screws. You should be able to see the holes there as well a in acouple of other locations.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 64 coupe carpet
I used the Al Knoch carpet set in my 65 coupe. The piece that fits up to the rear blower motor must be cut. I used my old piece of carpet as a pattern. Then the second piece of carpet that is glued to a backer board is installed to cover up the blower assembly as Bill described- Top

Re: 64 coupe carpet
My 1964 coupe was recarpeted before I bought it and the installer just covered up the rear blower. I really want to "resurrect" the blower, but not sure how to go about it without knowing what everything should look like. Be nice if I had another car available to look at as a guide, but I don't.
What SPECIFIC piece of carpet should I pull up to locate the blower and make the necessary cuts? Would I need to pull up more than one piece of carpet? Come to think of it, I hope the damn blower is actually in the car before I start ripping up carpet. Is there any to check for the blower without pulling up the carpet?
Thanks!- Top

Re: 64 coupe carpet
The blower is in the drivers side rear corner of the coupe rear compartment (luggage area) It is directly behind the wheelhouse. That should get you there. If everything is in place, about five trim screws hold the panel on that covers the blower and its ductwork.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 64 coupe carpet
If you have the carpet piece, you can cut one yourself from a piece of thin masonite. It's only purpose is to provide a backing for the carpet to be glued onto.Bill Clupper #618- Top

Bob
I got the picture (driver-side rear compartment) you are looking for from Bob Lightfoot (pretty sure that's who it was)on the Corvette Forum. They're on my machine at home so I can send them this evening. Drop me an e-mail at d-zuberer@tamu.edu with an address that I can send the pics to. I am surprised that you did not get the correct pieces with the Al Knoch set. I picked mine up back in February at the Houston show and the pieces including the backer board were in the package. I don't recall having to order anything separately. Maybe you should give them a call. I can send a pic of the board also if you like. My car had the blower covered over too.
