When I removed the dash last year for a re-wire and refurbish, I cleaned and lubed the odometer reset cable. There was virtually no wear and after installing on the odometer it worked flawlessly on the bench. After installation in the car it won't make contact to reset the odometer. Is there any special trick to route the cable to relieve the binding that apparently is causing it not to function?

Re: C2 Trip Odometer Reset
JR,
I pulled the knob last night and tried to reset but the cable won't turn. I used about as much pressure as i thought was safe. It seems bound, yet I know the cable was free and so was the odometer before it was reinstalled.- Top

Re: C2 Trip Odometer Reset
Mike,
I don't know how old you are or what year your Corvette is but you had better be younger than me.
You have probably kinked the cable on installation. You can accomplish this task without removing the cluster. You will have to remove the bracket for the steering column with it's associated hardware and there will be room and clearance to route the cable down without kinking it.
If you have a 67 the task will be much greater as the mounting plate is welded to the tube.
Take your time and a few Buds to your garage next Saturday morning. It won't take long.

Re: C2 Trip Odometer Reset
JR,
Thanks for the information. I'm a well-used 55 and the Corvette is a '66 so I'll give your information a shot and let you know how I made out. Will it still work OK if I use Miller instead of Bud? Thanks much!
