    Hello Duke/Anyone, about these tires........

Got the opportunity to pick up four Michelin 195-60-15s with 88H M+S ratings with less that one hundred miles on them for next to nothing.

Will they mount up properly on my 7" rims?

Something tells me maybe yes, but I would appreciate your input to seal the deal with peace of mind.

    Appeciate the help,

    Chuck

Rather short, narrow tires for a Corvette don't you think? Seven inch wheels? What year Corvette? Do you drive your car in mud and snow?

Re: AG rims on a 68 small blocker

Even though we do experience a very loose to semi solid tara firma season with an over abundance of crystalized aqua pura mixed in for good measure, little ole "IM A 68" will see neither

It's probably too good a deal to be true.

      What do you think?

        Chuck------

The 195-60-15s will fit fine on your 7" wide wheels. However, these tires are about 3" smaller in OD than the original size tire. This will create considerable speedometer error which may not even be correctable without the use of a speedo adapter. I don't know that will be necessary, but it's an "educated guess" without doing the math. Also, I would think that these tires would look way too small in the wheel wells. Perhaps, like a low-rider "cruiser".

          Re: Well......

I'll try some things, but not low riding!

Guess I'll just bite the bullet and get the right setup.

Cripes Joe I'm probably going to be in enough trouble as it is, I don't need speedometer error to boot

Like I said, It WAS too good to be true.

As always, thanks for getting back to me Duke and Joe.

I'll assume we're talking about a '68 Corvette. It's a high performance sports car, and the foundation of a sports car is the tires it rides on. Don't chintz on tires. I recommend you go with one of the V-rated 225/70R-15 police pursuit tires that I discussed in detail last year in The Corvette Restorer.

Like my Daddy said, young'un, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

I read your very informative article and it makes good sense.

Not that I want to chintz on tires Duke, just a sight un-seen opportunity I thought might work well with my budget.

The last thing I want is to compromise safety or performance regardless of price!

Thanks again for your wisened insights.
