    Block Drain Plugs.

The block drain plugs on my engine came out easily and cleanly. What is the best way to reinstall them so that they are easily removable next time? Pipe dope? Teflon tape? Anti-seize? Thanks. (This engine will never be judged.)

Replace them with brass plugs! When you paint the engine who will know? just you and ME!

I like to use "GM Thread Sealant With Teflon". It is quite expensive, and someone will surely respond with a "generic" compound that is cheaper and just as effective.

Whether you go with brass or steel plain old plumbers pipe dope will work fine.

Loctite Pipe Sealant with Teflon. Can find it at most auto parts stores. Wonderful sealant, plus lubricates the threads so as you can remove the plug later without using a 3' cheater pipe.

for the thgreaded drain plugs on the sides of the v-8's, i'd use the teflon loctite Didkie refers to. For the press-fit freeze(soft) plugs on the block, i use 3-M weatherstrip cement to make sure they don't leak. never had one leak yet with 3-M. mike

I use Permatex form a gasket on freeze plugs and Permatex teflon pipe dope on threaded plugs. Both available at any fine automotive or hardware store.
