    Re: Sometimes It's Refreshing To.......

yeah, I am only 41 but grew up with three main stations (ABC, NBC, CBS) and then Channel 9 (WOR) and 11 (WPIX), 13, of course, and then one funky UHF station thrown in the mix too, that always required a lot of twisitng of the outside tunning knob . . . always had a 7 digit ph #, but the ads on NYC TV stations still told me to call JUdson6 - 5000 or Murry Hill this or that . . .

And I still say that band has a new "album" out that I need to buy, even though most 21 year olds today have never "put a record on" an actual turntable and listened to 1/2 of the "album's" contents . . . .

and now I drive a car built two years after I was born, said car actually being quicker (1/4 mile, etc.) than most any of the little ricer cars running around me today - but I am still glad to see kids tricking out their cars, same as when I was 16 . . .

does anyone catch fireflies on warm summer nights anymore, and put them in jars with holes punched in the lid?

PS - I live closer to Fairfield than New Fairfiled

PPS Thanks for the kind words on my 65 L76, seems everyone here has a car I would be proud to have in my garage . . .

      Re: After Date Dessert...

talk about coincidence--- i just this second came back from dropping our 50 olds 98 holiday 2 dr hardtop at the local transmission shop_( got leak in the old 4 speed hydro after I just installed a mild 394 ci engine in the old girl. yes, there was(and still is inspite of girth increases of late)room to get it on in your father's Oldsmobile. agree the 57's were the best looking olds of the 50's. am in hot persuit of a 57 olds Fiesta -- my dad had a 50, a 55 and a 57 (which was a fiesta.). mike

Here's one that doesn't quite look like the poster you put up Chuck. One would have to be a glutton for punishment to take on this project, but on the other hand it would be a shame to see this fine automobile pass away.

Whewwwww...And I thought Corvettes were money pits. Whaddaya think, Miguelito, could you make look just like Dad's?. Terry, it's not like this fine old automobile is going to pass away. I expect it will probably eventually be reincarnated...as a Hyundai!

chuckie and terry: have been accused of being half bubble off, but to tackle the ole blue fiesta, i'd insist on a therapeutic frontal lobotmy first. mike

                  Chuck,

-------C-mon, the absolute champions in your catagory would be Ramblers, as the front seat folded flat at the pull of a lever while you were sitting in the car. My buddies $190.00 Rambler was always in big demand back then for trips to the drive-in. There were times when a muscle-cars obvious good points came in a weak second place...........Bill S

.........I dunno. That sounds kinda kinky to me. I'm pretty much a straight shooter, and don't go for "cross" stuff like that. But a more realistic approach would be to try it out in a

bill; i'd forgot about those early 50's nashs(don't think they were ramblers that early). anyway, the 50 nash my buddies older brother had in the late 50's had a front seat that reclined 90 degrees such that the top of the front seat back lined up with the rear seats botttom . We buried ole joe rice a couple years ago. he was so proud of the high-heel puncture marks in the ole nash's headliner. had a story for each and every one of them. boy was he a piss-cutter in his prime. thanks for the memories. mike

                              Mike,
I am with you. I have been looking for a Fiesta or Buick's version of the wagon called the Caballero for several years! If I ever find the right one, I am going to build myself a retro highway cruiser. It is such a cool looking wagon!
