    C3-1970 Starting problem

When I start my 70 corvette, I turn the key all the way forward,
the engine does not crank, It starts when I release the key.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Pat

    Pat -

Can you clarify the problem? If it cranks in the "start" position but doesn't fire until you release the key to the "on" position, that's usually one problem (20-ga. yellow coil bypass wire from the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid to the coil + terminal broken/loose/disconnected), and if it doesn't crank at all in the "start" position and then cranks/starts when the key is released back to the "on" position as you describe, I can't imagine how it would start and then disconnect power to the solenoid at the same time.

      Thanks John,
Yes it cranks in the "start" position, but does not fire till you release the key to the "on" position. I'll check my 20-ga yellow wire from "R" to "coil +".
My car is a 70 LT1 with TI ignition, It has had a full "NCRS" rstoration.
      Runs great once started.

        Pat,

Did you have your amplifier "upgraded" with the solid state unit that Dave Fiedler offers? I had the same exact problem and was resolved when I replaced it with a stock piece.

          Don, Thanks
Yes, I replaced my stock Amp. with one from Corvette Central, I assume Dave supplies CC. I'm going back to my stock Amp.
