    Leaking C2 carb question

I have a leaking carb on my SWC. The carb is a 1964 Carter AFB. When I bought the car the carb leaked and I had it rebuilt (by the late Dale). After a year it began leaking again. I rebuilt it again and it lasted about 2 years (a little progress, I suppose). Now it is leaking again. Not all the time, but I am leary of any leaks. It seems to leak if I start and shut the car off within a short period of time. Again, not all the time.

When I rebuilt the carb myself I called Dale who said his practice was to set the floats a little high, so I did per his instruction. Could this be the probem?

Any suggestions? It gets expensive to rebuild the carb every year.

    Thanks
    Dick

    Re: Leaking C2 carb question

with all due respects to the late varooooooom, i'd set the floats a little lower( ie, such that the needle seats at a lower gasoline level in the afb's reservior). today's crappy gas allows for premature sticking of needle and seats. add a gasoline stabilizer to the tank just before you put the ole girl to bed for its winter nap next fall. .mike

dale could have ment higher off of the carb top surface when you turn it upside down to set the floats. this means the floats will lower the fuel level. JMHO
