C2 65 Electrical, Park Brake Light

The park brake light will not come on and stay on when the handle is pulled. It comes on for a split second when the key is turned on then out. It will flicker sometimes. I've checked the brown wire and it has power to the switch which has been replaced. Seems to me like a ground problem to me. I've tried jumping from the switch to ground but still no light. Anyone have any ideas on what to try here.
    Thanks Mike

Hi Mike, I had this similar situation and it turned out to be the bulb which is a blinking type and would not always turn on initially. Long Island sells them for $3.00 maybe worth a try. Joe.

Remember the circuit is wired so that the light has power at all times WHEN THE KEY IS ON. The switch at the parking brake actually switches the system by providing a ground. If you take the brown wire and ground it to a good known ground while the key is on, it will activate the light. If it does not, you have a problem with the power feed, the socket, or the bulb. Unfortuantely, to really check any of these, you have to remove the bulb and socket from the cluster. The good news is that the bulb and socket do not have to be reinstalled in the cluster until after you have them working as the cluster does not provide the ground for this light.

I checked the brown wire for power it has about 12 volts. I'll take it to ground and see if the light comes on today. If not I guess I'll have to try the bulb. Not looking forward to that. I think I have to pull the cluster to get at it. Thanks Mike

Since the power runs thru the bulb to get to the brown wire, it sounds like that part of the system is ok. Try grounding the brown wire (with the key on) and see if it lights. I'm betting the switch or it's adjustment is the issue

Re: C2 65 Electrical Working now

Bill,I cleaned the threads on the park brake and put it back together and it works now. Must have not been grounding proper. Thanks Mike
